Marlee Brown
Designer, Developer, Super Genius, HBICMarlee has been obsessed with the visual fabric of the world for as long as she can remember. With a degree in Computer Engineering and a minor in Studio Art, Marlee has an almost innate knowledge of how to manipulate images in nearly any medium, digital or otherwise. She is proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, Freehand, Director, Fireworks, Flash, Dreamweaver, and Cold Fusion, and has enough programming knowledge to make up for anything her software cannot accomplish. Marlee is the power behind the throne at Marlee Design. She also sits on the throne, and has been known to hide behind the throne and then jump out and say boo. She is also responsible for the fabulous window treatment just to the left of the throne.
Steve Brown
Retail and Marketing Guru, Comic Relief
Steve has been involved in marketing, brand management, and product development in the toy industry for the past eleven years. He has handled everything from retail marketing for small independent toy stores to merchandising for sideshow circus acts. His expertise has earned him piles of industry praise, including the "Award For Industry Excellence" from the U.S. National Yo-Yo Museum for his brand management and product development work with the Duncan Toy Company. He has overseen retail promotions in 16 different countries, and has handled everything from product demonstrations to copy writing. On his days off, he walks on mountaintops and casts no shadow.
Scott Roder
Legal Eagle, Johnny on the Spot, Smooth Criminal
For over 10 years Scott has provided strategic consultations to
lawyers regarding the presentation of evidence at jury trials. With an
emphasis in 1983 civil rights cases and medical malpractice, he has
worked with the best lawyers in the country to develop winning themes
and achieve courtroom victories. Slightly obsessive compulsive and way over-caffeinated, he keeps one eye on the clock and the other on his many cell phones to make sure that everything gets done on time every time. Scott lives according to the words of the late great Diamond J.
"If the glove don't fit, you must acquit!" He spends
way too much time looking at autopsy photos, but he does hang out with a lot of cops so he's handy if you've run a red light or held up a bank. For more information about Scott and our legal work go to

Mike Laughead
Draw-er, T-Shirt Guru, Honorary Argentinian, Resident Good Kid
Mike has always been a draw-er and will always be a draw-er. He is lucky enough to be able to draw full time and sometimes forgets how lucky he is. That makes him a professional illustrator (which is just a fancy word for draw-er.) Mike makes pretty pictures for kids, teenagers, and even sometimes for adults. You can see his work in such various places as indie band posters, religious magazines for teens and screen-printed t-shirts. Mike kicks it old school, preferring to draw by hand with mechanical pencils or brush and ink. He is by far our favorite illustrator of all time and always adds the perfect amount of style and humor to our (sometimes half-baked) ideas. You can see Mike's work splashed around in our portfolio or by visiting
his site.
Nancy Talley
Publishing Expert, Copy Writer, Den Mother, Token Adult
Nancy is our expert on the finer points of copy. With over 20 years experience in magazine publishing and public relations, Nancy has forgotten more about content and business than most of us know. She finds all of our missing commas and hyphens, and her ridiculously large vocabulary makes her virtually unstoppable in a game of Scrabble. She also never fails to offer (whether asked or not) cogent insight into our business matters. Plus, she has made it her personal mission to convince the rest of us not to get any more tattoos or piercings. Her pleadings, like those of most mothers, are pretty much ineffective. Everyone needs a mother, and Nancy is ours.
Phoebe Nelson
Glueslinger, Guardian of the Snow Globe
Phoebe Nelson is the worlds best collage artist. (Really, she has a trophy and a mug that say so.) Choosing to keep her genius mostly to herself, her works have been prized among private collectors for the past 10 years. Without the use of any digital manipulation, Phoebe uses a pair of scissors stolen from her mother in 1986, and any physical object that will hold glue to create her images. The floor of her studio is passable only by her and anyone who does not fear their shoes being permanently affixed to the ground. With a degree in Studio Art from the University of Colorado, a fondness for dirty rock-and-roll boys, and a car that’s lived more lives than the Dalai Lama, Phoebe’s genius is now available to the world through Marlee Design.
